ABOUT THE ARTIST

I paint moments that feel worth holding onto—fleeting shifts of light, quiet pauses, and scenes that carry a sense of familiarity or nostalgia. A clothesline moving in the wind, sunlight resting on fruit, a figure lost in thought—what draws me in is not just the subject, but the feeling it leaves behind.
Most of my work begins with photographs I’ve taken while traveling or moving through everyday life—images that suggest the beginning of a story. From there, I rely as much on memory as observation, using sketches and studies to shape the composition. Working primarily in the studio, I focus on atmosphere and light, whether it’s the warmth of late afternoon or the stillness before a storm.
The process is immersive and meditative. While my work remains grounded in observation, I’m less interested in documenting a scene exactly as it appeared than in conveying what it felt like to be there. Whether painting landscapes, still life, or figures, I return to the same intention: to capture moments that feel quiet, familiar, and emotionally present.
Across all subjects, composition, contrast, and light guide my decisions—creating paintings that invite the viewer in and leave space for their own sense of recognition.
